2018 in Review: StyleCraft President Richard Kuhn Looks Forward & Back
December 27, 2018
“This year was amazing. And next year will be even better…”
As I reflect back on the letters I’ve written at the end of each year, this is the theme that’s emerged. It’s one of excellence, consistency, and aspiration — all made possible by our StyleCraft team, valued vendors and partners, homebuyers, and the Greater Richmond Community.
While 2018 fits that script, it also goes above and beyond. Here is a closer look at why 2018 was one for the record book — until 2019 comes around, that is.
In 2018, we opened five new communities throughout Greater Richmond. Even better, these communities are located in some of the sweetest spots you’ll find. Plus, they run the gamut of our lifestyle offerings, ensuring all homebuyers have the opportunity to Live Up, from first-time buyers seeking uncompromising value, to growing families on the move, and 55-plus homebuyers seeking the prime spot to write the best chapter of their lives. These include:
- Saunders Station Townes
- Townes at Notting Place
- Villas at Ashford Hill
- Chickahominy Falls
- Hartford Hill Townes
We’re thrilled to welcome all our new homeowners to these communities, and we expect 2019 to be a big year for them. (Spoiler alert: We’re expanding into a handful of new communities next year, plus a fresh product line that we’re extremely proud to release. We know you’ll love it.)
Humility is a cornerstone of StyleCraft’s team. I mention that because we’ve racked up several accolades that we’re proud to share — and this is the one time of year I get to do it.
- 20 / 2,000 Vision: Call it serendipity. On the cusp of our 20th year, we built our 2000th home. It gives us tremendous pride to look back through the years and think about all the StyleCraft families who helped us achieve this milestone. We look forward to celebrating our big anniversary with you all throughout 2019.
- Good to Grow: In the past year, we expanded our team to 75 employees, and just this past summer, we posted a record sales month with 44 homes purchased. It all adds up to StyleCraft climbing the Richmond homebuilder rankings. Thanks for helping us get here!
ST. JUDE DREAM HOME GIVEAWAY: THE SEQUEL
Once again, thank you, Richmond.
With the help and support of the entire community, we raised more than $860,000 in our very first year of spearheading the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway for Greater Richmond. We couldn’t have done it without our trusted partners, vendors, and all the folks who took the time to volunteer or reserve their ticket to win the “Dream Home” and other great prizes. Our combined efforts led us to be recognized as “Best First Year Builder” at St. Jude’s 2019 Golden Key Awards — an honor that we all share.
Now it’s time to kick off year two of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. I have no doubt that we’ll rally around our Cambria Cove “Dream Home” in 2019 to help raise funds and hope for St. Jude Research Hospital patients and their families. And I’m confident we can match, or better yet, one-up our 2018 results.

OK, you can take a breath now. I told you it was a big year. And I haven’t even revisited the eight awards we took home during the Richmond Parade of Homes, talked about the continued expansion of our Gateway, Expressions, and Freestyle lifestyles, or welcomed our hundreds of new homeowners to the StyleCraft family. (Welcome!)
Words alone can’t show our appreciation for everyone who has contributed to make 2018 such a memorable year. But for now, words will have to suffice: we appreciate and thank each and every one of you, including those who may choose 2019 as your year to Live Up in a StyleCraft home. (If that’s you, give our friendly team a call at 804.523.HOME to begin your home buying journey.)
At StyleCraft Homes, we’re a family company, in more ways than one. And we hope that you’re able to make some all-time best memories with your family this holiday season — and beyond.
